Magnetic dots
A tin of small, strong magnetic spheres (Speks-style). They snap together into sticks, sheets, and 3D shapes you can build and crush and build again.

- Never near mouths, pets, or toddlers. Swallowed magnets are a medical emergency. These are a “sit-down” fidget, not a chew toy.
How it works
Every magnet has a north and a south pole. Opposite poles attract; same poles push away. The balls rotate until neighbors find a happy pairing — that sudden line-up is the click you hear.
The force is electromagnetism, one of the universe’s basic forces, shrunk to desk size. No battery. The field is always on.
When lots of balls sit together they make patterns (hex grids are a favorite) because that packing wastes the least space. You are doing geometry whether you mean to or not.
Strong magnets can pinch skin and should stay away from very young kids, pets, and anything you would not want magnetized. Fun at a table. Not a snack. Just a physics toy.
